My wife's 2013 Camry had the check engine light come on. She said the gas cap was loose and tightened it but the light is still on.

If it was a loose cap and it was tightened, should the check engine light go off or does the P0455 and related codes have to be cleared manually?
The auto parts place would check the codes but not clear them without buying a replacement gas cap.

If the gas cap solved the problem, it can take days for the light to go off.

 

The check engine light did go out after 4 days of use.
