Hi all, I am new to this forum.
After doing a search I still perplexed.

05 Camry. Glove box keeps opening while driving. I have taken it out and had a good look. It seems like the retractable tabs have little resistance.

Is this a common problem? Is there a fix for it?

 

I'm not aware of any particular fix for your issue but I can recommend somethings.
First, most glove boxes have some adjustment that can be made with the latch. It is
Usually it is the latch attached to the dash and not the glove box door. Sometimes you can move that latch a little bit forward or aft for a nice flush fit.
Another option would be to take apart the latch on the glove box door (assuming that the tabs are spring loaded) and stretch the springs a little so they regain some tension under load.
Just some thoughts. There are also junkyards and eBay...

Turns out there are 2 clips that go into square holes that the retractable pins latch on to. Both were missing.

 

Did you get new ones?

 

Will try tomorrow.
