Help, Transmission problem or Torque Converter?

Hi everyone,

My 2000 camry has some problems recently. It mightbe the transmission problem, which is bad.I really hope you guys can give me some suggestions. Any kind of information is appreciated!

I bought this car second hand3 months ago (2000 Camry, 4 cyl) . It has 90,000 milage. I drove it to the highway last week. It runs OK on 70mils/h at first. I pushed the oil further, but the speed slowed down to 50mils/h instead of going up. The rpm of the motor went to around 3000~4000. Now, the car runsOK on 1st to 3rd gear on local. But it can't shift into 4th gear no matter how you push the oil, and theOVERDRIVE light will be on if you try too hard.It also has a small jump when shiftinto 2nd gear.

Is this a transmission problem? Or thetorque converter? The transmission oil seemsOK. But I have no idea how this car is serviced before I bought it. I took it to two local shops. Oneoffered to replace it with another used transmission. The other offered to rebuild it and also change the converter.

I'm not quit sure what's the problem. If I can have an idea about what's going wrong before they tearoff my transmission and told me I need to pay more for some unknown parts, itfeels much better.
