Help, trunk won’t open :(
2011 Camry Le
Very odd issue because it really sucks as is right now. So my trunk stopped opening a few months ago. Its finally annoyed me enough to try and get it fixed. So here’s what I’ve tried thus far:
- Trunk release lever cable is still connected, when release lever is pulled you can hear the trunk trying to unlatch - does not open
- Keyfob indicates same sound as the release lever but trunk does not pop open
- Trunk is not in valet mode
- Key turns as normal but trunk does not pop open
- Had wife hold release lever while I used the key at the trunk and tried to push/pull the trunk open with no progress
- Popped up plastic molding by drive seat to access trunk cable and pulled it by hand, did not work
Anyhow, I’m pretty sure I just need to replace the trunk latch but here’s where my issue is. I can not access the trunk because the rear seat fold down is in the trunk itself!!! Ahhhhh!!! So then I figured I could remove the back seat right??? Well I removed the rear seat cushion to try and remove the backing but had no idea how to do that. If anyone has any ideas or any other suggestions I’d greatly appreciate it. If I could remove the seats and squeeze in to use the emergency release, I can get this fixed without being charged an arm and a leg.

I’m having the same issue right now. They key fob unlocks and locks because I can hear it. The actual key also does the same. The trunk just won’t pop open and the back seat latch is inside the trunk so we can’t pull the seats down! Has anyone sent how to remove back seats without damaging the car ? I called a locksmith as well and they told me they can’t help with that
