How to determine if car is California or non-California emissions?
 

Hi,
2003 Toyota Camry XLE, 2.4L L4 FI DOHC 16V 2AZ-FE engine
ACV30,MCV3# (NAP) (0107-0602)
Model Number: ACV30L-CEPGKA
Mileage: 149,000 miles

I'm dealing with Exhaust Manifold & Catalytic & Air Fuel Sensor & O2.
But I don't know if the car is Cal. or non-Cal. How does one find this out?
Does any of the above info indicate this?
I have the VIN# if needed.

I'm not a mechanic. I appreciate any guidance.

There should be a certification sticker on the cars chassis in front of the radiator, or on the drivers door side or on the under side of the hood stating the car was certified to CALIF or FED or something to this effect.

Suggest using Denso brand sensors and one NOT listed as a "Universal" type (one size fits all).

All set about what type emissions. (it's 50 state, non-Cal.)

Mechanic says they installed Nippondenso, which I assume is same co. as Denso. But I think it's wrong part.

Since last posting, I was told to bring the car for updating the car's software at Toyota dealer. The dealer is only way to update software. And while there, I asked to know which emissions it is. Was surprised to learn it is California emissions, and that the car was made in Japan. It seems my VIN shows non-Cal emissions. So that's the end of that part of the story. But what a long road to learning this.

Was the software updated? Once the correct part was installed the system should pass ECU self testing and turn off the check light.
