IAC Valve problem???
99 Camry 4cyl w/ 220k miles. Car started having rough idle problem. Checked plugs, caps, rotors, etc. I've read that IAC valve problem is common. With the car on and valve unplugged, car idles very low. When the valve is plugged in, car idles higher (still rough) but I hear air chocking sound coming right where the IAC valve is. It's very noticeable w/ the intake tube off. Does this sound like I need a new IAC valve?

RE: IAC Valve problem???
What idle rpm are you getting? At 220k miles I'd do a compression test for rough idle. You could also pull one plug wire at a time to see if roughness stays the same or gets worse. That may isolate it to one cylinder.

car also threw a code P0505

RE: IAC Valve problem???
Code is for IAC valve. Stuck or closed IAC valve-circuit problem, problem A/C circuit or loose air intake hose.

RE: IAC Valve problem???
tried to clean w/ some carb cleaner as suggested by a member but that didn't help. I hear alot of hissing sound coming from it.
