Default Intermittent Cruise Control Issue

Hi All - on a Camry Hybrid 2007 (240k miles), I have intermittent issues with my cruise control. Symptoms are as follows:
Hit the button and the cruise control "on" light does not come on (intermittently). It functions for a while (could be a couple of days at a time) then stops.
Sometimes, when it is on, it also stops working, so it is stuck on. When it is stuck on, you are unable to set the cruise control (seems that the stalk/switch is dead).
I have replaced the stalk/switch, but to no effect.

I have noticed that when it is working, if I turn my steering wheel to 90 degrees, the switch does not work, but if I turn it straight again, it starts to work.
My suspicion is the airbag clockspring, but it would be great if there are any experts out there who can shed light on this.

Appreciate any thoughts.

Cheers
Rossi

Is the check engine or steering light coming on? If so a code may be stored which might help narrow done the problem area.

Rossi141, I too have a 2007 camry hybrid (only 152k) and have the exact same issue. I have also replaced the colum cc arm (mine was pretty soft and worn out). Did you find a root cause and way to fix this issue?

Turned out to be the clockspring wiring. Was pretty simple to change out. I replaced mine with:Genuine AirBag Spiral Cable Clockspring For Toyota Lexus 84306-48030 84306-0E010
