Default Lost key, possibly inside the car.

I have a 2012 Camry XLE, and recently, I lost my key. However, I am unsure if it inside my car or not. When I use my remote to lock the car, it locks normally, but when I try to do so from the button on the door handle, the car makes an extended beep sound. Is this a sign that the key may be inside the car, or is the behavior normal.

Thanks.

Don't know for sure.

If the lock switch on outside door handle the system may be detecting the Smart key inside the car and warning of this via the beep.

As the remote can both lock and unlock the car, the driver can not lock themselves out of the car thus no beep.

If normal behavior suggest asking at the Toyotanation.com site in the appropriate make/year section. Someone with the same year of car can give it a try.
