Default Major issue with rear seat sensors

Just bought a 2018 Camry Hybrid LE and found an issue with the rear seat sensors. Apparently this issue exists for all models of the new 2018 Camry

When a passenger is sitting in the back left seat, all the rear seatbelts must be buckled (even if the remaining two rear seats are unoccupied) otherwise the sensors will start to go off--There may be other variations with the seating but having a lone person sitting in the back left seat (behind driver) was enough for us to show this problem. Other variations such as what if the seats are down or some of the rear seats are down and the other is up and occupied, i haven't tried yet.

We reported this problem to our local Toyota, they contacted the manufacturer directly because they couldn't figure it out either and were told this is by design because there is only 1 sensor for the entire rear seating (instead of the typical 3). I find this pretty unacceptable. Maybe enough people start voicing their annoyance also, they'll fix this.
