Default manual tranny fluid weight

Hi,
A friend & I are going to change the clutch and flywheel on my 95 Camry on Monday. What type of fluid & how much does it take? Any tips/tricks? I have looked over this write up.....Clutch Replacement Write-Up - Toyota Nation Forum : Toyota Car and Truck Forums

The write up from Toyota Nations looks good. I didn't read every word but it looks how things should go. If you listen to Toyota factory manual, they will tell you to pull the engine and such. The method of leaving the engine and tranny in the car is far less invasive at the cost of room to work. This write up also does not include resurfacing the fly wheel. Surfacing the fly wheel is not always necessary but can make for a good mating surface for the new clutch. The write up also talks about having a friend assist, I second that, especially when it comes time to put everything back together and line it all up.

Check side of drivers door for sticker with trans model. If S51 then Dexron II replacement, 2.7 quarts.

Thanks, I looked at it this morning, it is an S51. Strange that it would use Dexron II in a manual tranny. Thanks for the info guys!!

Not uncommon for manual trans to use auto trans fluid. When you drain out the old fluid you can confirm this.

The can fuel filter in the engine compartment seldom needs replacing, would state it is changed much more often then required. If it does plug up you will know it from lack of engine power.

Congrats on fixing your clutch! How did it go? Any advice for those looking to do it themselves? Was the write up from TN good?

thanks, the writeup was good, however, we didn't really follow it closely. The friend who was helping me has done clutch replacements before on other fwd vehicles. He was pretty much the lead on it and I was assisting him. While I removed both axleshafts, he removed the starter, shifter cables, & removed the tranny to engine bolts. We then put in a jack underneath the engine to support it. We used another jack underneath the tranny and removed it from the tranny mount & removed the mount from the subframe and also the the small removable piece from the driver's side inner fender. This allowed us the room to separate the tranny from the engine and move it back about 8 inches. After that, we removed/replaced the clutch components/flywheel & throwout bearing. We also replaced the rear main seal since we had the flywheel removed. This was easy. I'm not sure why they said it was difficult in the write up. All in all, it went alot easier than I predicted it would be. If you have any specific questions, Ill do my best to answer them, before I forget what we did...
