Need Help please! Air Fuel Sensor for 2007 V6
 

First time post.

I have a 2007 Toyota Camary V6 3.5 with 180,000 and the engine light came on. Took to dealer and they said it has a bad right side Air Fuel Ratio Sensor. Ok... thought it would be around $200-300 to replace. The Dealer said because the had a design change for the sensor that the new one would not thread into the manifold. He then said that I have to buy a new Manifold for the right side so that the new sensor would fit. $1800 to change the manifold and new sensor. WTF!!!! How can a design change cost me to buy another manifold. What are my options here? Part Number is 8946733180 (old sensor) Any way to buy the old style sensor so I do not have to buy a new Manifold? I see alot for sale but not sure if it's the old or new style A/F sensor. There has to be something out there that will work.

I would use that part number you have for the old part and buy that. Then try to install it and if it doesn't thread in (don't force it or chew it up) then return it. Just try to get the part that is specifically listed as that old part number.
That's my advice. And that really sucks about the design change. I wonder why they did that?
