Default no spark

I was helping my daughter with her 91 camry wagon today. It just dies while being driven. Its a four cylinder automatic. It is not getting any spark so I tested for current at the coil with the ignition on. There was nothing. I replaced the coil and get current now, but it only sparks once and then nothing. I also cleaned up several of the ground points, checked fuses and applied dielectric grease on the fuse contacts where needed. I then checked the ground wire on the coil. It is getting a positive reading of about 8 volts with the ignition on. Could this be an issue with the ignition switch or ICM? Im not a wiring whiz at all, so what would be the next thing to check or test?

Thanks

Does the engine have the coil built into the distributor or not?

Did you remove a spark plug wire and check for ign spark?

V6 or 4-cylinder engine?

Default no spark

The coil is built in to the distributor and there is no spark at the wires.

Check for +12v power at brown wire (or brown/orange) to distributor. And igniter (brown, brown/orange or white/blue) in color.

Check distributor pickup coil resistance.
Wiring plug terminals G and G- should be 140-180 ohm.
NE and G- should the same.

G and NE share the same circuit return which is G-. When looking at the distributor electrical plug, G- is the lone terminal next to the plug locking device.

G = red
G- = black
NE = white

In addition to checking resistance range. Resistance should not increase with time when checking reading. As in start out within range and start to increase during test.

There is no test for igniter.
