Oil change interval

1998 Camry - The recommended oil change interval is 5000 miles or 4 months, I believe. If you do not drive much (eg 3000 miles in 4 months), do you still have to adhere to the 4 month rule?

Conventional oil can go 7500 miles, more if all hwy driving. You can change the oil every 6-8 months

If you use a synthetic oil can use a 5W-30, or 0W-30 for colder climate start ups. Change it once a year or 10K miles. If going longer miles between oil changes, get a long mileage filter designed to last longer.

I totally endorse that...Wife's 2008 was using oil until I switched to 5W-30 3 years ago..(Left over from my V6). It does not use oil now... That's great coz those 2008 years were notorious for using oil..She does about 5k a year and I change it once a year (Synthetic)... I would certainly trust the oil up to 10k a year. Here in Wisconsin (sometimes minus 30), it still starts fine. I cheat and use the charger for 2 hours every Saturday to keep the battery 100%... Battery is august 2014.

I changed my 1995 Camry LE 24k0K AND 2003 Suburban to synthetic. Saves money, my labor and generally better for your engine than synthetic. Vehicles run fine.

Minus 30 Wow and 2014 battery. Here in Il the coldest we've seen is maybe -10C.

One questions what battery manufacturer do you have. Thanks.

I got an autozone (good one) in 2014, but I have been researching the top-end $90 Walmart battery and that has great reviews. They say there are only a couple of battery manufacturers in the US and all these batteries come from the same production lines. My OEM battery (camry made in Kentucky), was Johnson controls Milwaukee, and Walmart's come from there too I believe...
