Over heating

Have a 94 camry le that keeps getting very hot. I just replaced the thermastat but that didn't help, still gets got quickly. The a guy told me there would be air in the line, so we put coolent in it while running. The fan moves very slowly, so could the power steering pump need to be replaced? As it powers the fan I believe? Or would the radiator need to be flushed? And help wool ups be appreciated! Thanks

V6 engine with hydraulic fans?

Under what driving conditions does the engine get hot, idling, stop and go traffic, on hwy, etc?

Umm, at first it was in stop and go traffic, but then it started to be at any time

How hot did the engine get, is it possible the engine blew a head gasket?

The fan system has a hydraulic control valve to vary fan speed based on coolant temp. The valve can fail, resulting in slow turning fans. Valve is near the PS pump.

Don't think it's the head gasket because it doesn't stall, like it would if the head gasket was out.. And btw, my room mate just ripped the bumper off like 45 min ago:/ not happy!!

Could be a lot of issues.

For fans, as stated their controlled by a hydraulic flow valve controlled by coolant temp.

If overheating going say 10 mph, then check thermostat not opening (common), plugged cooling system (less common).

Turn on A/C and determine if fans now rotate as higher RPM, either constant or cycling on and off.
