Oxygen sensors - 20003 Camry SE 4 Cylinders (CA version)

Hi All,

I have a 2003 Camry SE 4 cylinders, Calif. version (made in USA). I need to replace the downstream oxygen sensor. My question is how many oxygen sensors are in this vehicle. When I did a visual inspection, I only saw 2 oxygen sensors:
1) Sensor 1, attached to the manifold
2) Sensor 2, attached to the pipe near the motor oil pan area

I've heard that there was the 3rd oxygen sensor (downstream) for this model year located at the exhaust pipe, further down on the exhaust but I didn't see it underneath the car. Were there 2 different versions of the 2003 Camry 4 cylinders made that year?

Thank you all for your help on this.

There appears to be 3. One before the converter on the manifold and one after. Plus one after the converter under the car.

The sensor part number varies with build country and the emissions standard either California or Federal.

For Toyota brand the sensor locations are listed as front upper, front lower and lower rear (or rear).

For Toyota parts input your cars info at the link below. Then find the right engine (2.4L) and body style Camry not Solara).

For aftermarket brand the sensor locations are more cryptic. For aftermarket sensors suggest Denso brand direct fit. For you part, DENSO 2344603 appears the correct part but confirm this. See link:

Sensor housing design (and thus tool needed to remove/install) and wiring plugs via with sensor location on exhaust. Confirm the sensor you get has the same housing and wiring plug.

Thanks Joey for the great info.

I crawled under the car to look for the 3rd O2 sensor but still couldn't located it. Then, I used the link provided in your reply and looked up the emission component diagram. From there, it seems to confirm my visual inspection - that is, my US built, Calif emission, 2003 Camry has only 2 sensors: 89467-06030 & 89465-33321 that are compliant to Calif emissions. .

Here is the link to the emission component diagram:

When I hooked the car up to an OBD II scanner, it only showed two sensors of data only.

Cheers.

Thanks for getting back. There appears only two then.

Determine if there is another emissions converter under the car.

Thanks for the PN. I'm in Cali too. I verified that 89467-06030 is what I need so I ordered it online at a nice deal. It should be arriving in the next couple of days. Here's the sensor https://www.toyotapartsprime.com/oem...946706030.html
