Passenger Side Trans Output Shaft Seal Leaking

He we go everyone follow close. I have a 2002 Camry LE with a four cylinder auto. A while back I had a noise that I thought was a wheel bearing. I talked myself out of that and decided it was the carrier bearing on the right side axle shaft. After replacing the axle shaft with a remanufactured axle shaft from O'reillys (it had a new bearing on it) I still had the noise. Guess what, it was the wheel bearing like I thought. I should have known better to go with my first thought. Anyway here is my problem. After replacing the axle, my output shaft seal on the tranny was leaking. I got a new seal (same part number) from Toyota and put it in. The new one leaks as well. Did I get a bad or undersized axle from O'reillys or just what is going on. I sure as heck don't want to spend $600 on a new toyota axle for a car that has 160000 miles on it. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Could you have damaged the seal bore when you removed the seal? You could have cut the seal lip when you re-installed the axle. I don't know how a 2002 axle seal should be seated, could you have installed it too far into the seal bore? I doubt the axle is under sized but maybe the shaft was damaged. Is the left side the same diameter, if so you could mic it and compared to the rebuilt. Real pain for the cost of a new seal.
