Replace evaporator.

I have a 98 Camry 4 cyl. that needs an evaporator.\
I don't intend to do this myself, but get someone to work on it.
My question is, I have been told labor can be high on this job.
I wanted to know what the time range to do this job would be.
I am trying to get an idea of what it might cost for labor.

Guessing $700-$1K depending on shop.

The labor issue is the caused by needing to remove the complete dash to access the unit.

Joey, just wondering why you wouldnt recommend a leak sealer if just a pin hole leak? 18 years seems to new to have troubles with a/c other than compressor unless a factory defect imo. I just found this quick for R134 ; Red Angel AC Stop Leak Conditioner AC R134a Bluedevil Products | eBay

though I might use a brand that has specific sealer for rubber or metalic leaks if i have this problem. knock on wood:cool: enviro-safe has a metalic part sealer and rubber sealer thats cheaper i think. now lets hear why not to use sealers...

Don't know the problem. Just a request for a cost to repair.

when driving, fog came out of vents, and AC stopped getting cold.
I was told that would be a evaporator problem.
could it be another issue.

Is the 98 a R134 system?

Did the fog and AC stop getting cold events happen together.

A massive Freon leak could have occurred causing the fog. If so, a shop can check the AC system pressures to determine if the Freon leaked out.

The Freon is R134.

yes. mist/fog came out as I was stopping.
When I got back in to leave, it was no longer cold.

I notice on most forums people dont tell the whole story at once:( . Check this out, https://answers.yahoo.com/question/i...7191830AAvwQJe

We had a dodge years ago that did the same thing esp on humid nights and when at the beach. If evap is freezing up it will take time to thaw. never found out why it would fog the car, might have been charged wrong? try different air control settings
, not too cold.:p

I dont know about the drain but might look for a kink in the line or try back blowing drain with 15-20psi from under car for temp fix if blocked?
