reverse light malfunction

We have a 2000 Camry and the reverse lights are inoperative but the bulbs are both good. Warning light in dash comes on occasionally. Has anybody experienced this and know probable cause for this problem?

RE: reverse light malfunction

My 93 camry does about the same thing. Both my bulbs are new, but they don't come on. My reason is because the switch in the shifter doesn't always work. I have to move it around a bit then it turns on. Also, I can tell when they are working because the corrisponding "R" on my instrument panel lights up, and doesn't light up when they aren't working... I want to get it fixed... tired of people almost running into me in parking lots (because a car pulling out is just too small to notice without lights I guess)
