Sportivo Engine
 

G'day,

Poor old mum's 2005 Camry Sportivo has what sounds like a spun main bearing. Quick question, is the 2AZFE 4 cyl the same across the board? I.e. is the motor from a standard camry/altise directly interchangeable with sportivo? Compared it with Pop's 2003 Altise and seems to be the same (with exception of ABS). Further, is the motor from the RAV4 (and I think Tarago??) direct fit also?

Might try an Aussie Toyota forum. This to get the local scope on what engines can be swapped.

For Aussie engines it appears the engine was redesigned in 2006. Toyota also had slightly different engines in their sportier cars. Pistons, cams, etc.

One issue is the engine computer software would be setup for a specific engines performance, sensors, etc. Installing an engine with different cams or compression will have issues.

The XR30, XR50, etc. is the model which could be thought of the generation of car. XR30 would run between certain years.

During this time, the car would only have minor improvements or if needed incorporate a fix of a known problem was causing problems.

Note on the engine chart the horse power is not the same

A car built for another country may have engines designed for that countries emissions standards. A 2AZFE built for the US market is not going to be the same as one built for the Aussie market. This even if in the same model car, with the addition added local name such as Sportivo.
