i have a 2004 camry 4 cyl I have 10,000 miles on it now, Problem is when i am making a turn i have a knock in the steering it seems to be comming from the steering colum or maybe the rack has any one heard of this problem any ideas, I did check the bolt under the hood where the knuckle meets near the firewall that was tight any idea's thanks in advance

There is a new , recently released TSB for replacement of the intermidiate steering shaft. Should be free if your vehicle is still under warranty. MIne was done yesterday..huge difference...no more knocking!

 

well...just to confirm...our camry sportivo 2003 has dat weird noise...my dad works in toyota as a head mechanic...and it has been confirmed its da steering rack...ours has cracked twice already...it must b a faulty part

 

I havent seen any racks go bad, I am putting my money on the steering shaft, toyota has a tsb on it.

 

I've never seen a rack crack in my life sounds like a load of crap!
