Strange Noise from Lower Radiator Hose
2006 Camry LE
46k Miles New Camry owner here... Have a listen to this sound. I hear that noise when I squeeze either radiator hose. It's coming from the lower radiator hose, specifically from the area where the LRH connects to the engine (presumably at the water pump). It sounds to me kinda like a metal flap bouncing against its housing, Do Camry's have a valve of some sort near the water pump inlet pipe to regulate coolant flow? Whatever is causing this noise, it's completely foreign to this Honda/Hyundai wrencher, and I reaaaally want to know what it is. The coolant is completely clean. I'm gonna remove the LRH from the inlet tube and snake a borescope in for a look. Till then... Comments? Opinions? |
The thermostat may have a bleed valve. Basically a loose check valve that allows air to move pass the thermostat housing but not fluid.
The lower radiator may have a coil spring to prevent collapse when drawing in coolant. |
