Sudden acceleration in our 2010 camry
First off, I do have experience with GM, not with Toyota's. GM mechanic 12 years
2010 camry 4 cyl, auto XLE 25400 miles
This is the worse car I have ever driven for the throttling is not progressive. The acceleration is sudden at off idle. Very hard to park in a Parallel Parking situation. Other techs can't believe Toyota all run like this.
I have had it back to the dealer many times about this issue, they have replaced the accelertor and did all recalls on this problem. They said that they all do this, they all run the drive-by-wire system. The dealers Tech took it for a drive and it snap his head back as he knew of this problem. Then he said they all do this. I went though this forum to find if anyone else has this problem and I can't find any. This has done this since the car was new. Do they really all do THIS?
I am going to go drive a new 2012 this weekend to see if its different.

no info here. can imagine how hard to parallel park from your description.
Good, maybe try to drive another 2010, esp. with the dealer's service along;
probably a car brought in for service, or used vehicle on the lot.

I just drove a 2012 Camry XLE today. The acceleration is progressive and very smooth. I'm starting to think it's in the trans. Thay have changed the XLE model alot. Things that was standard is now a package option. Same trans and engine.
I'm calling the dealer this week and telling them. THEY ARE NOT ALL THE SAME!
