Sway Bar Link
 

I'm sure this question has been asked before, so bear with me. My Camry makes an odd "clunking" sound when it rolls slowly over uneven ground. My dealer looked at it a showed me that boththe front and rear sway bar link (or link stabilizer - whatever you go by) were shot, causing the sound. After inspecting them when I got home, it appeared to be a rather simple job - remove two bolts and install new link. My question is: is it that simple? I'm worried that I need to support the arms, remove somethingelse, etcwhen the link is removed, or something to that effect. Any experience in this endevour would be greatly appeciated. Thanks!

the sway endlinks? those are easy to change out as long as you have an allen wrench and crecent wrench handy.

easiest if you can jack up the car and remove the wheels. How are they 'shot'? the rubber boots ripped? Usually clunking with the rear sway bar has much to do with the two bushings that mount it onto the frame.

You can see on mine that the boot ripped, but even though it ripped it didnt make sounds...

I was told that my the clunking sound I have is related to worn/missing rubber on the rear sway bar (endlink?).... And they wanted $255 to fix it. And based on the thread I read it sounds like something i can do. I checked Autozone and they have 2 for $51 ea. If I jack up the car and take the wheels off, do I have to support the links while I work on the sway bars. I read about the allen wrench and crescent wrench. Any more suggestions or guidance....
