Timing Belt

Default Timing Belt

Hi, I have a 1997 Camry, It is a 3 Litre.

Its timing belt is loose. How do i tension it, is there a tensioner pulle or what. It is only loose once acceleration stops.

Sorry if this is a newb question but ive only ever worked on aircooled vws

Help is appreciated

Theres a hydraulic tensioner located just above and to the left of the crank. This hydraulic tensioner pushes on a swivel base that has a pulley attached to it.

Okay, The car isnt at my house so i will check tommoro.

Is there any way of tensioning the belt. Like how do i tension it.

Also what do i have to remove to get to this hydraulic tensioner.

you have to remove the front passenger wheel,drive belt, crank pulley and upper and lower timing cover, the timing belt tensioner is held on by two bolt

Are you sure its the passenger wheel. IM in australia where are you, i think you meant drivers side and thanks for the help

yes he means the driverside in that case.
