Timing belt lifespan

I have a 1994 Camry four cylinder, which I purchased new. It has 37,000 miles total. (It's sort of a backup car.) It still has the original timing belt. Is the belt still good because of the low mileage or should it be changed because of the age? Thanks.

7-10 years seems to be the recommended range for changing the belt regardless of miles. Yes, recommend changing it.

The plus side to the engine type is if the belt breaks no engine damage happens.

While replacing the timing belt also inspect cam/crank/oil pump seals for leakage. Change the alt and PS belts as these will be off.

Age also effects the material in the coolant hoses and tires. The brake fluid picks up moisture over time. Suggest inspecting these items.

Suggest changing the engine oil by months rather then miles as in at least once a year.

Keep up coolant changes as the anti-corrosion chemicals become exhausted with time.
