transmission stuck in park
 

2000 camry 6 cyl,automatic, shift lever is like it is not hooked to anything, lever will move through all gears, but car stays in park. need help

yes, and that might as well be the case. you need to get underneath the car and check if actuators are still connected to gear shifter levers on trannie. that's step #1.

yes, the shifting cable is broken at the shifting lever on the transmission, is this hard to replace?

Not too hard but an expensive part.

Some owners have managed to reconnect the cable end fitting back to the lever with clamp.

Some have posted at this site or Toyotanation. Suggest a history search on repairing the shift cable at these sites plus Google search.

Thanks, I've been looking and there is a picture of a 4 cyl broke in the exact same spot on toyotanation, your right it does look as if it can be fixed, I will take it apart at the transmission, and see what I can do. Thank you for your help.
