Weird Slip, Transmission, Power Loss, Toyota Camry

Hello All,
Pleasure to meet you. I have a 2007 Toyota Camry and something weird has been happening. Sometimes when I hit the gas pedal, the car doesnt accelerate. It makes a strange sound and then after a few seconds, it picks up and starts going again.

Does this mean my transmission is dying?

Also, I live in the houston, texas area, and im looking for a better place to take my car for maintenance. (this other place just took advantage of me).

Im thinking about taking it to the dealer where my mom bought it from. http://www.communitytoyota.com/

anyone think that's a good idea? i would appreciate any advice! thank you kindly. good day.

Is the powertrain warranty still in effect? If so definately take it to a Toyota dealer. If not, look in the yellow pages for an independent repair shop that works on Toyotas. Go by and get someone to drive it and see what they say. You can ask for references if you consider letting them work on the car.
