What is it and can I fix it?

2000, camry, 4cyl, 148,000 miles, just did a transmission and screen change yesteerday, this was leaking before the trans. fluid change.

Have problems with minor slippage on inclines and from dead stop. Changing trans fluid and screen didn't help.

But what is this? It appears to be oil and not trans. fluid.

Did you just change what was in the pan or did you flush and change the entire system?

I did a drain and fill yesterday hoping that would fix my problem, it didn't, so I then dropped the pan, replaced the screen and the fluid a second time.

Although it was not a full flush, the trans. fluid is now red, and with both the drain and fill and the screen change I used a total of about 5 leters of new fluid (about 2.5 both times I drained it).

My friend looked at the picture and said it might be a rear main seal... but I'm in denial right now on that because I can't afford to fix a rear main seal.
