Whirling noise starting after 30mph
I just bought this 97 Camry LE...has 75K miles on it. I am impressed with pretty much everything except this whirling noise that starts after I pass 30 mph. My first thought is the tires noise..but tires seem fine and balanced. Then I thought it must be the bearings....so I put the car on the lift and try shaking the wheels..it seems pretty well intact. It's noticable whirling/hoovering noise and quite annoying.
AnySimilar experience? Any input is I appreciate it. Thanks. bob- |

Does the noise occur with and without the radio on? I'm thinking maybe electrical interference with the radio.

No radio's off. I am going to check the brakes tomorrow.

hi
check the brake calipers too---mine made a funny noise, but I only noticed it when I turned the wheel slightly left or right, as when going around curves or following a winding road When I had my first brake job, at 95,000 miles, they told me the calipers were frozen, and thats why they made the noise. It no longer does that I have a 2003 XLE, loaded, am the original owner, and have 102,000 miles on it---it rides and looks brand new |
