Cat. Converter Install?

Darn, seems that my dad's camry needs a new catalytic converter. He checked with a few places, the prices they charge for install are insane! How hard might it be to put one in, for a person who is moderatly good with tools and such? Is it as easy as taking out some bolts and such? Thanks as always!

RE: Cat. Converter Install?

Hey it all depends on theyear and size motor you're runnin. Overall, yea I'd imagine you wouldnt have a problem. It was a cakewalk for me to do so, I had mine off 3 times in a week (tryin to find leaks) and you could buy one off ebay for MUUUUCH less than anyone wants to admit. I went to the dealership and they quoted me $800. I went on ebay and found it for $115, shipping included. So yea, all it is is one big pipe, 2 maybe 3 bolts on each end (depending on the year) Pull out the old one, put the new one in, put the bolts back.

So what are the year/engine you're workin on?

Oh, my bad, forgot to put year and such. It's a '00 camry 5S-FE (I4). I'm guessing this would be sufficient? Thanks for the reply.
