Flex joint on exhaust is frayed
My 2004 Camry LE 3.3 is making some exhaust noise underneath and upon examination I found the flex joint (short braided steel section) is frayed on one end - about 2-3 inches is exposed. A local repair shop took a quick look and said I would have to replace everything from the engine back. I can see where there isn't much room to work with on the engine end of the flex joint but isn't there anything I can do - everything else is in decent shape. I only have 95,000 miles on the car.
Thank you for any suggestions!! |
Is this what you're talking about?
https://mufflerexpress.com/products/...ytic-converter The rest of the system might need work though, but I think this is the part you are looking at. |
Thank You , Yes. I found a local guy who is willing to attempt cutting out the flex joint and fitting in an aftermarket one. He is going to have the whole front exhaust standing by in case that doesn't work and return it if it does!
