A hole on exhaust pipe.
A hole was found on the exhaust pipe of my 97 camry. The mechanic suggested me to replace the pipe as well as converter. It is really expensive! I am wondering if I have to replace the converter?

RE: A hole on exhaust pipe.
i have basically the same problem. you could cut it before the cat and replace it there. or on ebay they have a cat up exhaust for cheap. it even comes with headers and a new downpipe. it is just a cheap bolt on kit. im working on getting one

just cut and weld....not a huge deal. Garage wants to switch out the cat so they can sell it. Good metal value |

RE: A hole on exhaust pipe.
on my dads silverado, we just cut the top and bottom out of a soup can, and cut a line in it. Then we wrapped it around the hole and put some pipe clamps on it. works just fine, and sounds normal

RE: A hole on exhaust pipe.
just cut the whole exhaust off and be as obnoxious as possible

If it werent for the loss in power I'd love to do that. But lets face it,a 94 i4 losing power would put me into negative horses..[:'(]
And I also considered the soupcan, but that wouldnt pass which is why I did all the work. |
