Vapor Pressure Sensor for 97 Toyota Camry

2 Attachment(s)
I'm trying to get my 1997 toyota camry fixed so that it will pass emissions and I'm told by my mechanic that I need a Vapor Pressure Sensor part #89420-06060 (see picture). Apparently toyota does not make this part anymore and there's no aftermarket version of it yet. My mechanic gave up trying to find the part so now I've been looking on my own for it.

I was told today by a car parts dealer that the AS74 Standard Vapor Pressure Sensor will fit on my 97 camry. Does that sound right? The AS74 part description says it's for the toyota tacoma and 4runner but the dealer says that if I remove the bracket mount, the sensor can be retrofitted to go on my 97 camry. Is this correct? See attachments for pics of my original part that needs replacing and the AS74 part I ordered.

Also keep in mind that countless people told me to get the Beck Arnley 158-0661 Fuel Injection Manifold Pressure Sensor Part. I ordered this part a few weeks ago, took it to my mechanic and he says it's not the correct part (I don't need a MAP sensor, but rather I need the vapor pressure sensor).

Here are my car details in case that helps. I am NOT a car expert - I really don't know anything about cars so thanks for your patience!

That is a hard to find little part you are looking for. I did a little digging myself and I didn't come up with much.
If I were you I would try two things. First, call around to junk yards and see if they have any applicable cars in their lot that matches your series engine. Also, I'm sure you've done this but call the local parts stores as well. They might also be able to give you cross reference numbers.
The second thing would be to try the retrofit. I would buy this part used as the new ones run around $150 and up!
Keep us posted. And I wish you luck and welcome to the forum.

I had same problem for five months, and I got good news for you if you are still having this problem.

I called DMV referee program and they located the part in Northern California, this warehouse has rebuilt map sensors with one year warranty for $120 and it worked like a charm. My car passed inspection and runs well.

I hope this helps you.
