1992 Camry speedometer over reading

Could anyone give me some indication why my Camry speedo would overread as much as 25km/h. My speedo reads 145km/h when my navigation system says I'm doing 120km/h. I'm sure I have the only standard Camry 200i that can criuse at 200km/h on the speedo, (160km/h real speed):). Any suggestions where I could start looking for the problem, and please, no debate about tyre size, I have standard size tyres.

What country was the car built to sell in, speedometer accuracy requirements can vary with country.

Typically the speedo is designed to indicate a lower then actual speed to prevent traffic ticket issues.

If an electronic speedo, the speed sensor on the trans generates a pulsed signal going to the speed sensor on the dash cluster, then to the speedometer.

Unfortunately the service manual does not get into calibration or accuracy issues. Without any service data for home repair it comes down to swapping parts and hoping for a fix.

Might call a few shops that recalibrate speedometers (or a dealer) and ask if it is possible to adjust the make/model, if this type of speed difference could be deemed "acceptable", or if replacing parts might help.
