1998 Camry LE - Replace Remote
 

I just received a 1998 Camry, but no remotes for the door locks. I have to put the key in and turn twice quickly to open all doors. How do I get some remotes for this?

Do I just buy aftermarket programmable remotes? Do I have to go to a dealer? Do I need to install a power door lock kit? Of course I need to keep the cost down as much as possible, so if an install is required, is it something I can do myself?

First find out if the car was equipped with remote locks, not all cars had them.

The dealers part department may be able find out based on the cars VIN.

If the car was equipped with a remote the dealer may still be able to get a remote if not aftermarket vendors sell them. Do an internet search. Aftermarket is cheaper.
