2007 Camry 4 Cylinder starts when its in the "mood"

Help!

I am not a mechanic, but I know what my mechanic nieghbor put into to to fix a wiered problem:

The car starts and runs great, but after you turn it off, after 10 minutes or so it will not start until it cools down anywhere from 1/2 hour to 45 minutes.

My mechanic changed the spark plugs, ignition coils, mat sensor, fuel pump, coolant temp sensor, fuel pressure regulator the fuel rail, and engine control module.

I took the car to a different mechanic who said they checked everything and that it should be working fine, then they said they narrowed it down to the fuse box, they changed the fuel box and still they did not have a good out come, the car still starts when it feels like it.

I have slight mechanic training from 1977, and understand some things, but I have not actively repaired anything since High School.

I am thinking is it possible that it is the computer that needs to be reprogrammed or changed?

Thank you in advance.

Albo

Suggest:

Getting a wiring diagram. For $25 one can get access to Toyota service info at:

https://techinfo.toyota.com/techInfo...a.com%3A443%2F

Some public libraries have free access to AllData which shops use for specific car model info.

Check for battery voltage at ign coils and ign coils when hot and trying to start. Or better check check voltages at various components engine cold and compare to when hot. One can pull a fuse to check if it is getting power.

Pickup a few cans of freeze spray. Apply suspected areas to cool it down.
https://www.google.com/search?client...q=freeze+spray

Check ETC sensor which tells computer the coolant temp.

Suspect?? a wiring connection or marginal component that is failing at hot temps.

Normal would state fuel pump but you changed it.

Any other site to ask at is Toyotanation.com.

When you start your car cold, does the starter turn over the engine easily?
When the car is warm, the starter just continuously turn over the engine?
Just trying to rule out a starter problem is all.

Answer and Update

1. it starts great
2. after running it it will not start after 10 minutes of being turned off
3. It will not start until 45 minutes later.
4. I spend an inspection fee at the local toyota dealer and found out that the ECU/ECM wires need to be cleaned out they wanted $675.00

Someone suggested I ask them for the diagrams showing where the ECU unit is, and the wires that attach to it, having that the mechanic says he can check the wires, the dealer did not want to provide that information, of course they want to sell a job at $675 that may take less than an hour to look at?

Anyone know where I can get images of the ECU unit, its location, and the wire diagram info?

Thanks!

Albo

Your right, wiring connection, but Dealer says its at the ECM/ECU unit.

Any ideal where I can get diagrams for it, and its location, and wiring?

Thank you in advance, btw nothing suggested worked, so that is why I took it to the dealer and paid $99 for the inspection., of course they wanted to sell all kinds of other work since it is a 2007.

For pictures of ECU search Ebay for units on sale.

Location is in engine compartment on drivers side. Find a long good sized fuse box on the drivers side of engine compartment then look to the passengers side of said box for the ECU.

The ECU has harness plugs one can remove and clean. Might disconnect the battery first.

For wiring diagram see first post reference Toyota online info site.

If needing a replacement ECU search Ebay. Get the EXACT same part number as the one in the car.

Get some cold spray and when engine hot and not starting spray ECU/area to cool it down and determine if it makes a difference.

To get those diagrams, don't you have to be a certfied tech?

I would rather donate some money to someone to get them for me.
