30-31mpg in a 00 Camry LE over Xmas. Unusual?
Drove almost 1600 miles over a 8-day trip to visit relatives during the Christmas holiday (includes two 600 mile runs). I've installed an UltraGauge trip computer in the car and had calibrated the device for fuel consumption prior to the trip.
On both 10-11 hour runs, averaging 70-80mph on the road (many pitstops for the wife & dog
), the gauge was showing a consistent trip MPG between 30 & 31.
Considering that this is a 2000 Camry LE (5F-SE & auto) with under 79,000 miles on the odometer, how unusual is this mpg? Our other trip car, a 2002 Saturn SL2 (147,000 miles) in the past would only give about 28mpg on such a trip, even though it is 689 pounds lighter, with a 0.3 liter smaller engine, and w/ 12 less hp. And the Saturn probably has a lower CdA, since it is a smaller vehicle.

if I was getting 30-31mpg out of a 00 Camry .....at that highway speed.. I would be very happy
