98 Camry - Should i buy ?

Hi all,

Im considering buying a 1998 Camry (im notsure what model), i need to know if i should go for it or not. It has 133K (my only reservation), im looking for something thats gonna last me at least another 3.5 - 4 years max. If i can get another 70K out of this camry would be more than happy. Im just not sure. I test drove it, its a smooth ride, AC is cold, nothing seems to be wrong with it. What do you think??

Im a college student, i just need to get something until i graduate. help me!

well- have you looked into the service history?.. the 4cyl (5S-FE) are prone to engine sludge if oil changes aren't done religiously. Who were the past owners?- Was the car taken cared of?-if ur only shooting for 70K and this car has been cared for.. you will double on what you are asking for.. but as far as SMOOTH RIDE and COLD A/C.. we cannot predict anything further. If you can, pull a mechanic for about $60-$80 for an hour to check it out if you're not mechanically inclined. Good Luck!

yes, i have heard of engine sludge problems in the V4, and it is a V4. Ill be getting a carfax on it hopefully. Do you know if carfaxes include oil change histories?

my next question would be even if there is engine sludge, cant your just flush that stuff out using cleaners and motor flush stuff?
