Camry Hybrid Questinns

We are looking at the Camry Hybrid. The one concern we had after the test drive was that there seemed to be some hesitation on acceleration at most any speed. Is this common? Do you get used to it?

Are there any other quirks that you have to get used to?

hesitation? elaborate please.
there is going to be lag, and there maybe a bit of hesitation if it has to start up the gas engine because you accelerated harder than what the electric engine can give you.

Situation: driving on the freeway. When you ease back on gas or add to gas there'd be a feelling like a downshifting or upshifting. Could it be the ICE turning off and on at speed?

im hestitant to say yes. I am not experienced with hyrbids. I've only ridden in a prius once.
To my knowledge, once you reach highway speeds the gas engine should stay on. Indeed the car could be shifting, but the most likely culprit is you're feeling a bit of engine braking and perhaps a bit of power generation from the electric motor. I personally didnt like the feel of the prius.

The hesitation could just be from the transmission though. Our 05 Highlander v6 experiences hesitations and studders at time due to computer programming issues with the transmision. If you dont like how it feels, you should test drive a regular camry to compare.
