cv boot & axle replacement
hello, i'm a noob with a question... go figure
i'm driving a 92 camry 4cyl. 111k on it, and the cv boots i believe are making noise when the wheel is turned tight. i was told i need to remove the rotor and all that to replace the axle i believe... anyone done it before? how easy is it? |
RE: cv boot & axle replacement
The left and right side axles have a little differant design and installation.
You will need to remove the brake caliper, rotor, steering knuckle then axle. Not too bad of job as everything bolts on. Typically the bad axle is on the opposite side of the turn, but listen for which side the noise is. The left side is easier then the right. Autozone has some info on this: http://www.autozone.com/addVehicleId...00c15280074746 Your axle would not be the bolt on type shown but a slide in type. See link below: http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,ca...y,partGroup,17 If the car has ABS make sure you get a replacement with the ABS sensor ring. |
