Empty bolt hole
While checking for oil leaks on my 2000 Toyota Camry 5SFE, I found a hole where it looks like a bolt is missing. I took a picture of it and went to the local Toyota parts department where I was told they could order the bolt and that it held a bracket in place. When I look at it I can see no bracket or anything beside the hole.
I am attaching the photo in hopes that someone here recognizes what it is and can help me determine if I need a bolt there... You can see it is next to the power steering pump. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cam...662e0e07a4.jpg |
In your picture, what is the part having eye with the bolt on in it? Is this part of the pump housing?

I'm not sure what you are asking. What does 'having eye' mean? The photo is a shot from above the passenger side looking down onto the power steering pump pulley. You can see the hole behind it. My question is what is that hole? If a bolt goes there, what does it hold? Are there parts missing from my car?
If you know then please respond... |
The power steering pump housing is bolted to the engine. To do this the housing has a flat finger (eye) with a bolt hole in it. See attached link.
Is this hole part of the pump housing? https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...B1DZJS3kQqI%3D |
Aye, that may be it... I will get the bolt from Toyota and see if it fits. It seems that someone didn't replace it. I have never changed the pump and have had the car for 9 years.
