Hello, Its 4am hereI couldnt sleep. thoughtI would look into parts for the 94 and ended up here. It has 226000 miles and runnin strong the only problem I have with the camry is it is loud! I havent even looked under the hood to see if its a pipe,converter,manifold,gasket,muffler or something else. Is there any normal trouble spots with the exhaust systems? Ok im ramblin... anyhoo...I have been to other forums and am a member of a vintage buick forum. It has been hugely helpful,I expect this site will be too!

P.S. dont expectto see any pictures with wings or coffee cans hanging out the back end.

What model of Buick do you have?

The most common area to leak is the flex pipe going between the exhaust manifold(s) and CAT/muffler. It is located right before the CAT, you will need to get under the car to inspect it. It looks like a pipe wound with wire mesh.

The section of pipe allows flexing between the engine exhaust, and CAT and muffler that are bolted to the frame.

Toyota does not sell just the flex pipe but only the complete system-very costly.

If it is the flex pipe it can be cut out and a new one installed by a muffler shop. You can buy flex pipes or have them ordered at parts outlets then welded in. Some pipes also have the ability to use muffler clamps.

The other exhaust leakage areas are the same typically areas as most cars.

Well it is the flex pipe. i might try a scrap yard. cheapest replacement part was atautozone 155.00 oreily has it for 225(OEM). i dont what im going to do yet.

My Buick is a 1972 Skylark based model Gran Sport (GS) It has the stage 1 option with a higher compression 1970 engine. the old 1 was getting tired. Chassis dyno pulled 421 hp at the wheels with 531ft/lbs tourque 3600 rpms'

A great car, should go like a rocket with this much HP! Then the smog folks took over around 1978ish.

A junk yard would be good, was thinking something like the unit below:

The unit does not need to be stainless of course.

Have seen the flex pipe only (as in the photo) at NAPA stores for a very low cost. It's a universal fit pipe just need to get the diameter right.

I recently did a cat replacement, it totaled up to about $125. I know its not cheap but the weld job someone did for me sucked so rather than fixing the old pipe I replaced it.

Check ebay, mine was $106 buy-it-now, almost $20 shipping.
