Does the high shift RPM problem occur with every gear?

Does the speedometer work OK? The speedometer sensor also tells the trans computer have fast the car is going.

Could also be the throttle position sensor (TPS) issue. This sensor tells the trans computer how open or closed the throttle is.

If you or a friend is mechanically minded, the engine and trans have built-in diagnostic systems that might narrow down the problem.

Look in the engine compartment. Follow the large plastic air duct from large rectangle plastic air filter box to throttle body. TPS is attached to the side of throttle body that faces the firewall. The part is made of plastic and would have a electrical harness connected to it.

It's possible the TPS is bad, needs adjustment or perhaps faulty electrical connection.

Could be other issues, just an educated guess.

The TPS can be tested with an ohm meter, it might also need adjustment.

Have someone check out the TPS first before replacing. Plus check for any computer trouble codes.

Location is on opposite side of coast in WA State.
