Hello from a couple Hoosiers

Hello everybody, my wife and I just bought a 1998 Camry LE to replace her 03 Monte Carlo that suffered a fatal engine fire. We have big plans for the Camry, including a partial repaint. Car was very very well maintained thru its whole life and came with all the documentation of this. While she is high milage, 204K, she runs flawlessly. My wife and I ride motorcycles most of the warmer months, so the miles will add up much more slowly now. I just ordered new headlights to replace the yellowed, faded and nicked up original ones. I will be adding a pair of fog lamps in the air dam as well. The hood and front bumper show the wear and tear of living where salt, rock salt ect are used on the roads in the winter. So I hope to be able to have the front bumper and hood repainted next year. I have lots of reading to do yet, but we have finaly joined the Toyota family! Cheers Mike and Michele T

Welcome to the forums! My previous car to my Camry was an 01 Monte Carlo SS. When the Monte hit 160k miles, it really started to nickel and dime me and we had a baby. Good car overall but I am much happier with my Camry.
I also added fog lights to my car. I bought a cheap kit on eBay for under $40 and it works great. There are some posts about on here if you search around. One post has a great youtube video.

I am a mechanic by trade, so installing and wiring them will be a snap. I use them all the time, so I am just wiring them thru a relay to the parking lamps. I hope to get a factory switch set assembly and wire them thru that. I am using a pair of SEV Marchal lamps off an old Dodge Acclaim RT. These are the plastic lense version, which are safer to use with our road salt ect. The glass lense versions are very expensive and easily cracked by road debris. I tinted the lenses yellow as it causes less glare for me, while still doing what I need them to do. I got one lamp mounted, taking a coffee break while I type this. Pics to come once I get them both on. Cheers Mike

Those fogs look great, nice job. Nice looking Camry too! I hear you about the plastic lenses, mine are glass and I cringe while driving among the road sand and salt, but because they are so cheap on eBay, I'm not too worried.
Thanks for posting pics, always nice to see members' Camry's.

I hate having to replace them when I loose a lense to a rock. These were the right size and I already had them laying around the garage. I have a larger pair of Bosch Pilot fogs but the lenses for those are getting a bit pricey and one is already cracked from the last car they were on. I prefer the Marchal line of aux lighting personaly anyway. Very high quality and not made in China. Cheers Mike

Nice find!

Is your Camry a 4cyl or V6? Just curious, as mine (4cyl) only has 140,000 orig miles, I am hoping to get it up to 200,000 (at least). Good find! -Aaron (A hoosier living in Oregon) Go Colts!
