how long until I see gas savings

Does it really take a few tanks of gas in a new vehicle before it levels out? I'm seeing my gas gauge on my 08 camry se literally go down as I'm driving! Almost a half tank in 4 days and all the driving I do is back and forth to work every day (12 miles one way)
