I have a leak

Hi, new here. Don't know much about cars, but it would appear that my 1994 Toyota Camry has a leak (the area circled in red with a close up below it). It's getting mighty steamy. The area was just squirting liquid the first time I lifted the hood. Later, it looked like the liquid had solidified (thought they were wires at first). Anybody know what's going on and what it will take/cost to fix?

From what I can see it look like you need to replace that radiator hose.

With engine cold use your hand to check the hoses in the area for coolant.

Buried under the cylinder head outlet flange is a short (about 5-6 inches), curved coolant bypass hose (about 5/8 dia). The flange is show in your photo having the two sensors on top connected to the large dia hose. One sensor has the two small hoses running to a green colored sensor.

The hose can start to split, small leak at first, major later.

There are also other 5/8 inch dia (think this is the size) hoses in the area.

Move the hoses around, often a bad hose will leak more when moved.

Check areas where the hose attaches to a pipe, etc. You could just have a bad hose clamp.

When the engine is hot, CAREFULLY look at the hoses. Use a strong light. The coolant system is now pressurized, a bad hose may swell up in diameter. If poking around at the hoses, wear safety glasses, the coolant is under low pressure and can be over 200F.
