intake manifold insulator
 

I have an 02 2.4l Camry. Evidently I have striped head bolt threads. I have heard that a possible cause is the rubber insulator between the intake manifold and the block Overheating being the main reason. My question is can the insulator be left out when putting everything back together to avoid the issue in the future?

Toyota changed the block design to remedy the issue.
