in the auto box is a pawl that locks the box in park
its a saftey feature are you saying its hard to take it out of park brake lights ..you need to test if there is power getting to the bulb socket are other lights working in the back cluster |
It's stuck in pqrk. I know how to override it. It's stuck cause the brake lights aren't working, safety feature. I need to know what to replace besides the brake light switch (which I really believed was the problem). All the other lights are working, just no brake lights.

Use a voltmeter to determine if power is getting to and past the brake light switch to be able to go to the shift lock ECU and brake light system which are different systems.
Shift lock System uses the Cig/Radio, ECU-IG and Brake fuses. |
