New 2007 Camry XLE (Titanium Metallic) owner

Have about 300 miles on the car now. Traction control helps and the car is a beauty to drive. Not many problems or complaints other than the following few things I've noticed:

- Lag in acceleration can be dangerous when trying to pass (heard about a software flash fix, but unsure whether I really need it)

- Gaps in the dash not of even spacing between left hand side and the right-hand side

- The sportronic shift (+/- on the gears) is a little wierd to operate with six gears. My previous car had such a shift, but it was mostly very prompt and understandable in response.

- Going up-hill or down-hill requires more monitoring. Downshift to maintain speed won't happen unless you press the gas pedal fairly well (very irritating, it should detect that you are requiring more power with the small change in the gas pedal and also see that the car is losing speed without loss of traction). Prone to gear hunting on large inclines. Down-hill has no or little hill assist. For the price you pay for an XLE, one would have expected these. But then, I had read that the Camry lacked these feature before I bought the vehicle, so was well aware of the issues.

- Sending DTMF through the car is a bit hard. Voice recognition isn't really THAT great.

Questions:

- I didn't go with the NAV system (for lack of traffic and depreciation on that system). Plan in to go for a megallan vocie-activated mounted system. Does anyone know of any easy ways to mount this without wires showing up or leaving some of the compartments (where the power adaptor socket is) open?

- Can rain-sensing wipers be installed seperately?

Thanks,
Srivatsa.
