Default New Guy Here, Not Too Happy

Long story short.. traded in my 2023 Charger GT and brought home a 2025 Camry SE.

My Charger had bright-white LED headlights from the factory.

I test drove an XSE (during the day and night) and was told the headlights on the SE were the same so I ordered the SE. I didn't need or want all the options of the XSE.

Picked up my new SE with AWD yesterday afternoon after work.

I got it home and waxed it. Found several "nibs" in the paint on both driver's side doors.

Found a gouge in the front bumper that was painted over by the factory. Paint already coming off.

The headlights on the SE really suck!! Driving to work this morning was "fun".

I'd do better with flashlights taped to the hood.

To say I'm disappointed in my new Camry would be an understatement. I'd like to drive it straight to the junkyard.

I left Dodge because of their lack of customer service. I was always told Toyota's customer service and quality was second to none.

So far, Im not seeing it.

Paying $36k for a car, am I asking too much?

I would be disappointed on that paint job! A concern is what lies ahead. Read up at the links below on the nibs as this could become a problem in the future. Suggest letting the dealer know. Who knows what they will do. I assume the dealer knows about these paint issues but might play dumb.

The LE may use a different headlight with one lens.

The bumper cover nick may be transport damage.

Do get on those paint issues as can get worse! If the basic paint job is poor, then it may get worse over time.

What are these dimples in my paint that are slowly appearing around the entire car? (1968 Camaro) : r/AutoDetailing

I've got the SE.

Going to dealership tomorrow morning to talk with the owner about the issues with the paint.

Going to see if he'll just locate an XSE for me and trade it.

The headlights SUCK on the SE.

Neither the salesman or I knew they were better in the XSE.

Default Any defect

Easy for me to say, but a time of signing you should’ve pointed out the defects

Defects weren't seen until I got it home and started waxing.

You would have missed them too on the walk-around.

Toyota appears to be having a trend of poor paint issues. They may be revising their paint system process. However, it is unacceptable to let this issue get out the door to the customer. It's a production problem and Toyota appears to be letting it pass Q/C to get to the customer.

Suggest doing research on how big a problem this is. In the past there have been class action lawsuits against Toyota for failing to address product issues. Check with Toyotanation.com who has a much larger membership. If Camry is affected, perhaps other models are also.

And to get to the bottom as the paint may flake off and or you end up with a rust issue.

Not going to be my problem anymore.

My dealership is locating an XSE and I'm only paying the difference in the price of my SE and the XSE. 👍

I'm only out the price of the Toyota Dash Cam I bought. I can live with that.

Small price to pay for the better headlights in the XSE.

Toyota needs to be more explicit in their build sheets by stating the LED headlights are better in the XLE and XSE vs the LE and SE.

Someone else who doesn't give a rip about paint and stuff can buy it.

As far as class action lawsuits... the only real winners are the attorney's.

The owner is a friend of mine. 👍

The SE only had 21 miles on it... dealership to home to work to the dealership.

And the issues with the paint.
